India has started to explore the untapped Gay tourism market. In past few years tour operators in India have started to focus on Gay tourism with custom made packages specially for the gay tourists.



Gay tourism is showing great potential despite the India being quite a conservative country especially on this issue. There are few gay travel agencies in India offering custom packages that includes surrogacy tours, spiritual camps, yoga and weddings. Even though gay wedding is no legal in India, some tourists want to experience that grand Indian wedding.

Gay tourism is growing in India, however there is no stat to back the statement. One of the sign that suggests boom in gay tourism is that several hotels in India have started to train their staff to behave and talk naturally to the gay tourists.

Going forward it’s a great sign that tourism industry in India has started to open itself for the gay tourists. Gay tourism industry is well worth over $100 billion in the world. Alone in United States, Gay tourism is worth $60 billion.

This is the reason why several countries around the world as promoting themselves as a gay friendly country. Although due to the conservative nature of India, its not possible for the Tourism Ministry to promote gay tourism however tour operators and hotels can continue to work together and show India as a gay friendly destination.
