Wrest Park

Wrest’s crowning glory is its wonderful 90-acre gardens dotted with fine Baroque and French-style buildings, statues, woodland, water and restored Rose and Italian gardens. Stealing the show is the iconic vista along the tranquil Long Water to Thomas Archer’s 18th century Pavilion in the distance.

A charming Orangery as well as sumptuous rooms inside the mansion may be used for weddings and receptions with the gardens providing a majestic backdrop.

A lovely drive leads to the house, built by Thomas d e Grey in the 1830s and inspired by the buildings of Paris. Once inside, double doors lead to an inner hall with elegant sweeping staircase, with breathtaking views through high French doors to the Archer Pavilion.

A range of gilded interconnecting rooms, all facing out onto a wide terrace and into the gardens beyond combine to offer a perfect setting for ceremony, drinks reception and dining and guests may overspill onto the terrace in fine weather.

The Orangery too, in the heart of the gardens, is licensed for civil ceremonies and is a light and airy space, which can be combined with a marquee on a nearby lawn to stage larger receptions or parties.

Known as England’s ‘Secret Garden’ Wrest Park’s 90-acre grounds are amongst the finest and most important in the land. Overgrown and largely unknown for decades, they have been undergoing a major restoration, which has revealed their hidden treasures.
